Fulfilment of exam requirements


The Oral part(A) or Written part (B) of the exam will be judged successful on condition that candidates fulfil sixty percent (30 scores) of the attainable total score by achieving or surpassing a minimum of forty percent in each test.
The total score of the Oral part (A) of the exam is calculated by adding the scores of the Listening test and the Speaking test.
The total score of the Written part (B) of the exam is calculated by adding the scores of the Writing test and the Reading and Use of English test.
The table below summarizes the attainable total scores and the minimum acceptable scores for each DExam test allowing candidates to calculate the result of a successful exam.

The Complex exam (C) is successful if candidates achieve a total mark of sixty percent on both the Oral part (A) and the Written part (B)of the exam.
If the Complex exam (C) is not successful
  • on individual request candidates can be issued partial exam certificates (A) or (B) provided they meet the exam requirements partially. These can be applied for on the form "Modification of exam type".
  • candidates may acquire Complex exam (C) certificates by successfully retaking the unsuccessful test(s) in the following exam session, as long as they have achieved sixty percent or more in two tests at least.
  • A retake of a particular test(s) may be requested by filling in the form "Test retake". The exam fee for retaking the failed test is 30 percent of the given Complex exam (C). Candidates must attach the voucher proving the payment of the appropriate exam fee. Retaking an unsuccessful test(s) is allowed only once and only in the following exam session. It is not possible to postpone a retaken test.
